AURORA IL - Illegal Beaner Motorcyclists Were The Aggressors - Community members respond to Aurora motorcycle altercation

As Asshole motorcyclists involved in an altercation with a pickup truck Sunday during a stunt ride in Aurora continue to defend themselves some in Aurora are shaking their heads.

The president of an Aurora advocacy nonprofit for Mexican-Americans blasted motorcyclists who participated in a weekend stunt ride through Aurora that was captured on video in which a pickup truck driver drove into a bike after a number of riders surrounded the vehicle.

Val Ojeda, president of Aurora's Foundation for the Advancement of Mexican Americans and a self-proclaimed community leader, said the incident which involved thrown punches and yelled insults before the video-recorded showdown in the middle of a city intersection angered him greatly.

"They're acting like a gang of thugs," Ojeda said. "It was very, very embarrassing."

He called out the participants in a Facebook post, stating they should be ashamed of themselves. In an interview with the Beacon-News, he publicly apologized for the behavior of any Hispanics involved in the stunt ride.

Video footage of the incident, which happened during the ninth annual La Carne Azada ride, has been shared thousands of times on social media.

About 350 motorcyclists met up Sunday morning to start the ride, which ended with tacos at an Aurora restaurant, as organizers say is tradition.

A little before 1 p.m., a police officer put on his lights and siren and tried to get the group to slow down in the downtown intersection of West New York Street and River Street. One motorcyclist used his bike to block the squad car and waved the remaining riders through the intersection, according to a statement from Aurora Police Department spokesman Dan Ferrelli.
