My mom is definitely one of my biggest beauty icons. In fact, almost everything I know about beauty, I've learned from her. How to make a simple at-home face mask to help calm down my sensitive skin, what to do if my nails became dry and brittle, how to brush my hair so that it would grow longer faster, she just always knew what to do and was a constant source of some of the best beauty tips and tricks I now use on daily basis! Though she's given me quite a few wonderful tips over the years, the one beauty advice I adhere to religiously is the nightly ritual. Every evening, before I go to bed, I take care of my hair, skin and body.

But why is nightly ritual so important? Well, aside from the fact that new skin cells tend to grow faster when you sleep, during the night, our skin goes to work to repair damage and to restore our complexion, so a great night-time skin care routine is an absolute must. I've shared my morning routine with you in the past, but I haven't really talked about what it is that I do at night, so I'd like to take this opportunity to discuss my evening ritual a bit.

Normally, I start with my hair. I have to admit, that I haven't always been so diligent about brushing my hair at night. But about a year ago, I decided to give it a try and brushed my hair every night for seven days straight, and I can't tell you what a difference simple brushing made! Soft and shiny, my hair hasn't looked this good in years! Naturally, I was hooked, so now, I brush my hair every night for about 10-15 minutes using a paddle brush with natural boar bristles.

Next is the face. I've talked to you at length about my skin care routine in the past, so you probably know that at this point in time my main goal is to prevent and to correct. Living in California, I spend quite a bit of time in the sun, so if I'm not careful, I tend to get those pesky little dark spots around my cheeks and nose. Recently, I started using RoC RETINOL CORRECTION Sensitive Night Cream to firstly, even out discolorations, prevent fine lines and wrinkles, and to smooth the skin. I've heard a lot of really great things about retinol, like the fact that it's recommended by dermatologists as one of the best age-fighting ingredients, but also that retinol boosts collagen and speeds cell turnover, so I was really eager to try it for myself. After speaking to Dr. Dhanal G. Bhanusali, MD, a leading New York-based dermatologist, who gave me a bit more background information about why retinols are such incredible products because they stimulate cell turnover ( almost like a superficial peel ) and remove the excess debris that clog pores, I am definitely happy I did! What I like about RoC RETINOL CORRECTION Sensitive Night Cream in particular is the fact that it doesn't irritate my sensitive skin, and I can see and feel the difference in my skin. It's much softer but also the discolorations around my cheeks and nose started to fade to the point that they are barely noticeable. Dr. Dhanal G. Bhanusali, MD also suggested using retinol products, like the RoC RETINOL CORRECTION Sensitive Night Cream at night because exposed pores and increased cell turnover leave you a bit more vulnerable to UV rays. So now, every evening I apply about about a dime size of RoC RETINOL CORRECTION Sensitive Night Cream followed by RoC RETINOL CORRECTION Eye Cream to even out dark circles, and to prevent lines and wrinkles. I also use sunscreen during the day to protect my skin from burns.

Last but certainly not least is nail and body care. I've always been able to grown my nails long due to the fact that I never go to bed without moisturizing my hands. Currently, I use coconut oil, which is honestly one of the best moisturizers I've ever tried. I start by massaging coconut oil into my hands, paying special attention to cuticles, next I apply coconut oil to my legs, feet, elbows and knees, which tend to be particularly dry areas for me. The whole process takes no time at all but next morning you wake up with baby soft skin!

MY NIGHTLY BEAUTY RITUAL

Good morning, Everyone! I hope your week is going great so far. As you may already know, I am a bit of a hair-care fanatic, which is why I am always searching for new products to introduce to my hair-care and hair-styling routines. Today, I'd like to talk to you about my latest discovery and current obsession - Krastase L'incroyable Blowdry Reshapable Heat Lotion.

I was first introduced to this product during Paris Fashion Week when I spent an incredible day with Krastase Consulting Hairstylist, Odile Gilbert, who is one of the most celebrated hair stylists in the world, and the mastermind behind the most iconic hair moments in fashion history. As we were casually talking about everything from Paris Haute Couture, runway hair and favorite hair products, I decided to seize the moment and ask Odile for some hair styling advice. As I previously mentioned, I am not a big fan of stiff hair. I like shiny, healthy-looking hair that moves, and doesn't feel crunchy or dry. Yet most styling products I've tried in the past, made my hair look stiff and dull. After I described my hair styling dilemma to Odile, she suggested Krastase L'incroyable, as her favorite styling product du jour.

Following her advice, I started using Krastase L'incroyable, and I have to say that it's my favorite hair-styling product to date! Aside from the fact that it locks in the style while leaving my hair shiny and full of movement,  what is so different about this first of it's kind reshapable heat lotion is the fact that it has shape memory, so you can change up your look ( curls to straight, for example ) without needing to apply more product each time, and you can restyle your hair over and over again without getting that buildup feel. So essentially, you can do 3 different styles over 3 days without having to wash your hair to get rid of product buildup or applying more product! Naturally, I love that!

The way Krastase L'incroyable works is actually pretty genius, because it contains non-sticky beeswax micro particles which are stimulated by heat. Once the heat is applied, the micro particles melt and lock in the style and the particles can be reactivated when heat is applied, which means you can create multiple hair styles over multiple days!

To demonstrate the way Krastase L'incroyable blow dry works, I decided to create 3 of my favorite hair styles over the course of 3 days. I did not wash my hair, nor did I apply more product.

Day 1 - Loose curls: After washing and conditioning my hair, I applied Krastase L'incroyable to damp hair, then blow dried it with a paddle brush. Once my hair was completely dry, I used a jumbo curling wand, to create loose, slightly messy waves. To achieve this look, I curl medium-sized section, making sure to curl the front sections away from the face. The whole styling process took me about 15 minutes but results lasted all day! YAY!

Day 2 - Perfectly Straight: When I got up next morning, I felt that a sleek, straight style would work best to complement my tailored blazer, skinny jeans combo of the day. So, I simply straightened my hair with a fat iron. The whole process took me about 5 minutes, yet once again, the style looked great all day!

Day 3 - Messy Up-Do: I love the way slightly messy up-dos downplay dressy pieces to create that nonchalant, easy going feel. To achieve this look, I started by parting my hair about half way. Next, I teased the bottom section with a testing comb, then put it in a loose, messy bun. Next, I curled the top  section of my hair with a small curling wand. Once the top section was completely curled, I teased 2-inch section of my hair, paying special attention to the top of the head. Finally, I pinned small section to the bun using small bobby pins. And voila! All done!

P.S. As always, please feel free to shoot me an email of you have any questions about the hairstyles!

3 DIFFERENT HAIR STYLES IN 3 DAYS

Hi everyone,

I love to pamper myself. It's no secret to anyone close to me. Whether it's just my ritual weekly visit at the beauty salon (now every other week) or just taking care of my hair and nails at home. Anything that has "Me" as the center of attention is pure joy to my heart.

So when I don't feel like going anywhere, I transform my bathroom into a spa. How do I do that? Simple, just follow the steps:

1- First, I lock myself up in the bathroom (Do Not Disturb Mood);

2- I put the appropriate playlist on: I do have a thing for Classical musics so I would surely go for :Beethoven, Bach, Mozart, Chopin & my all time favorite les quatres Saisons from Vivaldi. I just can't get enough of this masterpiece. It's about one hour long so you can play it over and over without getting bored (or that's what I do);

3- Once the mood is set, I light up my scented candles. My favorite scents are: light lavender, bergamot & sweet orange;

4- I try to relax and meditate;

 While they are so many things that you can do between pampering your hair or nails and so on... my two favorites things to do to pamper myself in such situation are:

a) I get a nice massage from the hubby or;

b) I take a long bath and intoxicate myself in my himalaya pink bath salt while the jaccuzzi is doing the divine job of massaging me. I sometimes do a natural face mask (avocado & raw honey).

To make sure that my spa day will be a success, I also make sure that:

1- I drink plenty of water - with a few slices of orange and lemon  (the perfect drink for your perfect spa day);

3-After the bath, I use some highly hydrated and relaxing body lotion. I usually go for  Bath&Body Works Moonlight path or country chic, light and sweet but they are specific brand made for that;

3- I get into my favorite bathrobe & read a fashion magazine followed by a nap; or I just skip the reading part and go straight to the "nap time".
